Play, Make, Create

This week for Play, Make, Create we read the book We are all Equal by P. Crumble and Jonathan Bently.

I worked by myself this week and I decided to Create a Playground for a Monkey. I made a tunnel out of a toothbrush box, a tree which I made out of newspaper, green paper strips and I also had a swing hanging off it. I also made monkey bars, a slide, a pool and a picnic blanket. When I finished all that I had a bit more time so I made a monkey out of Pom Poms.

The hardest part was making the platforms because it was really hard to keep it still while I taped the poles down.

My favourite parts would have the tree because I think I used a really different technique and the monkeys bars because I think they look really good and they don't collapse.

Overall I think my Play, Make, Create this week was a Supernova!

Play, Make, Create

This week for Play, Make, Create we read the book Rain Before Rainbows. I enjoyed the book and I also really liked the illustrations.

This week, I worked by myself. I decided to make a Treasure Hunt for Jackson that I am going to set up at home. I made a treasure map and a treasure chest. In the chest I had a Scroll with a inspirational quote inside, a rainbow pom pom to brighten up someones day and some kind messages. When I finished the chest I had lots more time so I decided to make a step by step map.

I really enjoyed Play, Make, Create this week and I think it was a Supernova!

Newspaper Tower Challenge

The Whetu Challenge this week was to build a really high tower out of newspaper. I ended up being in a group with Alena, Uvini and Meah because I was at guitar so I joined their group of three but I actually really enjoyed working with different people than usual.

We decided to make a triangle base and have the tower sticking out the top, it was really tall but then it started to lean so we had to cut the top off so then it could stand on its own.

Our tower ended up only being 135cm so we didn't win but I still had lots of fun.

Play, Make, Create

This week for Play, Make, Create we read the book Twig. I really enjoyed the book and my favourite part was the end because they made her a piece of colourful clothing so she would always stand out.

This week I decided to work with Scarlett. We decided to Build something for a bug or an insect. We were also given a challenge to use mainly natural resources. Scarlett and I decided to make a treehouse for bugs and insects.

The hardest part was sticking the top part to the trunk, so I

']/n the end we got some plants and decorated the bottom with them to weigh it down on one side. Scarlett even found our first quest... a cockroach!!

I think we did a really good job and I enjoyed working with Scarlett because I had never worked with her for Play, Make, Create.

I think our Bug Treehouse is a Supernova!

Play, Make, Create - Week 4

This week for Play, Make, Create we read Theodore the Unsure by Pip Smith.

I decided to do the create task this week which was to create something that Theodore could have made out of his hair. So I made a scrunchie and I think it turned out really well. To make the scrunchie I got a rubber band and stapled some fabric around it, then I thought that it didn't look like his hair so I wrapped some wool around it.

I think that my Play, Make, Create this week is Supernova!

Play, Make, Create - Week 2, Term 2

This week for Play, Make, Create we read Be You which is a book about being yourself and being unique.

I decided to work alone this week because it's a book about yourself. I made a scrapbook about myself which came under the category Make. I think it turned out really well. Some of the things I included was my favourite colour, food, hobbies, places and much more.

I think making it a scrapbook worked really well because I could add heaps of ribbons, buttons, cellophane, string and bright colours.

The most challenging part was drawing the beach because I tried to add lots of detail to make it a Supernova.

NumBots and TTRockstars Blog Post

 Term 2, Week 1 2021

During Term 1 we have been practising our addition and subtraction knowledge through the online programme called NumBots.  At the start, it was super easy but progressively got more challenging.

I am now on Diamond level of NumBots which is the highest level.

I enjoy NumBots because it taught me a lot of new math strategies and I really enjoyed moving up the levels.

What I find challenging is some of the challenges especially 16, 19 and 20. I also find Diamond a little hard.

This week we have started TTRockstars.  This is an online programme which helps us to learn our timetables. The year sixes still have their accounts from last year so my time dropped heaps. Since I was last on TTRockstars they added a new section called Jamming. In Jamming, you can custom how many questions we get and what sort of questions you get.

I think that TTRockstars is really fun and has also really helped me with my Multiplication and Division. My favourite things to do on TTRockstars is Garage and Arena.
