Play, Make, Create
This week for Play, Make, Create we read the book Rain Before Rainbows. I enjoyed the book and I also really liked the illustrations.
This week, I worked by myself. I decided to make a Treasure Hunt for Jackson that I am going to set up at home. I made a treasure map and a treasure chest. In the chest I had a Scroll with a inspirational quote inside, a rainbow pom pom to brighten up someones day and some kind messages. When I finished the chest I had lots more time so I decided to make a step by step map.
I really enjoyed Play, Make, Create this week and I think it was a Supernova!

Newspaper Tower Challenge
The Whetu Challenge this week was to build a really high tower out of newspaper. I ended up being in a group with Alena, Uvini and Meah because I was at guitar so I joined their group of three but I actually really enjoyed working with different people than usual.
We decided to make a triangle base and have the tower sticking out the top, it was really tall but then it started to lean so we had to cut the top off so then it could stand on its own.
Our tower ended up only being 135cm so we didn't win but I still had lots of fun.

Play, Make, Create
This week for Play, Make, Create we read the book Twig. I really enjoyed the book and my favourite part was the end because they made her a piece of colourful clothing so she would always stand out.
This week I decided to work with Scarlett. We decided to Build something for a bug or an insect. We were also given a challenge to use mainly natural resources. Scarlett and I decided to make a treehouse for bugs and insects.
The hardest part was sticking the top part to the trunk, so I
']/n the end we got some plants and decorated the bottom with them to weigh it down on one side. Scarlett even found our first quest... a cockroach!!
I think we did a really good job and I enjoyed working with Scarlett because I had never worked with her for Play, Make, Create.
I think our Bug Treehouse is a Supernova!

Play, Make, Create - Week 4
This week for Play, Make, Create we read Theodore the Unsure by Pip Smith.
I decided to do the create task this week which was to create something that Theodore could have made out of his hair. So I made a scrunchie and I think it turned out really well. To make the scrunchie I got a rubber band and stapled some fabric around it, then I thought that it didn't look like his hair so I wrapped some wool around it.
I think that my Play, Make, Create this week is Supernova!

NumBots and TTRockstars Blog Post
Term 2, Week 1 2021
During Term 1 we have been practising our addition and subtraction knowledge through the online programme called NumBots. At the start, it was super easy but progressively got more challenging.
I am now on Diamond level of NumBots which is the highest level.
I enjoy NumBots because it taught me a lot of new math strategies and I really enjoyed moving up the levels.
What I find challenging is some of the challenges especially 16, 19 and 20. I also find Diamond a little hard.
This week we have started TTRockstars. This is an online programme which helps us to learn our timetables. The year sixes still have their accounts from last year so my time dropped heaps. Since I was last on TTRockstars they added a new section called Jamming. In Jamming, you can custom how many questions we get and what sort of questions you get.
I think that TTRockstars is really fun and has also really helped me with my Multiplication and Division. My favourite things to do on TTRockstars is Garage and Arena.

Play, Make, Create: Term 2, Week 1
This week for Play, Make, Create we read Up the Creek. The book is about teamwork and resilience.
I worked with Katelyn and we decided to Design a map to navigate The Moose, The Bear and The Beaver "Up the Creek".
We drew a key with colours for the Safest Route, the Dangerous Route, The Skinny Route and a Dead End which I think worked really well. Then we thought it needed something else so we added a compass.
If we had a bit more tie we would have added their canoe going "Up the Creek".

Whetu Fun Day
Last Thursday we had a Whetu Fun Day as our camp was postponed. Our teachers planned a fun day for us instead! We participated in a Whetu Amazing Race, a range of different fun rotations, a BBQ lunch and play on the council playground then we finished the day with an Easter Egg hunt and an ice block.
My favourite part of the Amazing Race was the netball task, our team choose to try and shot ten hoops. I also enjoyed working with different people which were Katelyn, Bella, Olivia M, Maddi, Nate and our parent was William (Katelyn's dad).
The rotation I enjoyed the most was Picasso Bunnys because I love doing art and being creative. I think my bunny looked really awesome in the end and I put a Supernova effort into it.
During the Easter Egg Hunt I found my stick hidden in the roots of a tree over by the P.E Shed which I think was a really good hiding spot. The colour of the stick I found was purple.

Play, Make, Create Week 9
This week for Play, Make, Create didn't read a book, we just had a Key word which was camp. The reason the word was camp, is because we are going to camp on Wednesday.
I worked with Cullen and Katelyn. I really liked working with them because they have really great ideas.
We used cardboard as the base and stuck green coloured paper on top. To create the tent we used metallic party banners and we also made sleeping bags. We wanted a little outdoor area so we got some really cute fabric and made a mat with a mini campfire. We had heaps of time left when we finished so we made little versions our selves, Cullens in the tent and Katelyn and I are lying down outside/sunbathing.
Overall I think our Play, Make, Create this week is a Supernova!
Maths Mystery Week 9
Today I worked with Shirley to do a Maths Mystery!! I really enjoyed working with her because I have never worked with her before.
The Maths Mystery was about a trophy thief and the culprit was Mollie.
For clue One we worked out that the culprit had a metal drink bottle.
For clue two we worked out that the thief was a female.
For clue three we found out that the thief was a year three.
For clue four we worked out that she is size nine.
And clue five was that she played for the blue team.
I found this Maths Mystery really easy but I still enjoyed it. I think I put in a Supernova effort.

Play, Make, Create
This week for Play, Make, Create we read Giraffes Can't Dance.
I worked with Katelyn. We decided to create a scene in the book and I think it turned out really well.
We decided to do a collage using a magazine as our background and added the other elements on top. We also used coloured paper for the grass, crape paper for the dance area and string for his tail.
The hardest part was glueing all magazine strips on the background and the easiest part was the creating the moon.
I think that our Play, Make, Create this week is a Supernova!

Week 5, Term 1, 2021
Monday was our school Swimming Sports and it was really fun. Before my races, I was really nervous, my legs were shaking and I had goosebumps all over me. But I think did really well and I made it into Hauraki Plains which is this Monday.
In literacy this week we have been book detectives. We are reading the Magic Finger by Roald Dahl. So far we have done a summariser and a predictor on the book.
Part of our maths program is NumBots. I am on Aluminium (which is the tenth level) and am aiming for diamond (which is the eighteenth level).
Last week we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and for the Whetu Challenge, we make/research or anything related to it. I worked with Katelyn to make a picture of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We made the caterpillar out of cardboard and painted the background.

Week 4, Term 1, 2021
The most interesting/fun thing we have done during class time this week is doing a piece of writing. I really enjoyed starting it and can not wait to do more.
We started our art this week and I have chosen to do art with Mrs Kennedy. Our art is going to be landscapes. I have chosen to do this art because it’s very bright and colourful.
We created our Whetū stars on Thursday and they look amazing. Mum came in and helped me make it. I added pictures of Mum, Dad, Jackson, Tess and Ruby. I also did some patterns around the outside to make a Supernova.
Next week we have our school swimming sports. I am feeling really excited and also really nervous. I am excited because I love swimming and feeling nervous because I am going up against my friends. My goal is to make it into Hauraki Plains.

Term 1 Week 3 - 2021
One thing I have really liked this year are the Whetu Challenges. Last week we did a house challenge and Orewa won!!!
Two words that describe learning in Whetu are...
Awesome and Fun.
Something I am looking forward to this year is more Whetu Challenges and moving up on Numbots.
The most fun thing I have played this year at morning tea and lunch is crocodile on the big blue with Tayla, Katelyn, Shirley, Haven, Scarlett and Marley.
I am really looking forward to this year in Whetu!
